NURSING INTERNSHIP Few weeks ago we held an informative webinar at NBBS, it was focused on enlightening recent Nursing graduates on the internship process and requirements.It was such an eye-opening moment having nurse interns share their experience and offer advice, guidance and respond to questions.Along the way these important points crossed my mind:➡️Do not hoard information, that which you know but feel is irrelevant for others might be someone's saving grace.➡️Imagine a river that doesn't flow, it's just keeps receiving water and remains stagnant.What would happen to that river? With time the water becomes stale, same with information; you need to keep giving out to receive more.➡️I've realized that the more you give out the more new information you in turn are exposed to.➡️No information is useless, you just need the right audience.This is one of our main focus at Nursing Beyond the Books, to get the nursing student and early career nurses armed with information they will not get from the classroom which will influence their personal and professional development.From the comments and testimonials from this last session, we know our aim is gradually being achieved.Cheers to another informative session coming up this week.#NursingBeyondTheBooks#NBBS

The best thing about being in the ER as a 16-year-old is being able to see and experience things that not many 16-year-olds get to see and experience. Interning in the Emergency Room is preparing me for my career ahead and I'm getting a jumpstart on the way hospitals run, how doctors and nurses communicate, and getting a look on how clinical rotations may be while in nursing school.Being in the ER is a big responsibility...hence why you don't see many teenagers interning or volunteering in that department. You have to be able to handle stress during high chaos hours while not getting overwhelmed by your responsibilities.https://lnkd.in/gCV43Yup

Internship!! New Skill?!During my internship, I sit right next to the patient computer. This has all their vitals, EKG, and information. I'm a working CNA (certified nursing assistant) and I recognize the vitals being displayed. I talked to one of the nurses about EKGs. She taught me about the different waves and how to notice if they are normal or not. This is a skill most nurses and doctors learn on school. EKGs are so important. They may look like a little line that goes up and down, but they tell the history of a heart like if someone has had a Myocardial Infarction or multiple. This has guided me to gain my knowledge of EKGs/the heart, and has motivated me to look into an EKG tech course.

Never did I see myself interning in the Emergency Department.Since I was a little kid, I always dreamed of being in the Labor & Delivery Unit. I even had the opportunity to do that for this internship....but something was telling me to choose the ER and I'm so glad I did.The ER has a wide range of cases, demographics, and ages. It has given me many opportunities and in turn so much more experience than a L&D Unit could have. I still get to see the occasional babies, but what I truly love is the organized chaos the ER brings....and sometimes unorganized. I love seeing every team member working together to solve problems and how each of them has their own medical advice for each given situation. In the end, everyone gets taken care of. The second best thing the ER brings is the many opportunities for interns to watch procedures and see the different conditions patients are in. I've had the chance to observe some crazy things so far and am intrigued with what's to come.Never did I think I would say this, but I want to become an ER Nurse.Today, the ER was at max capacity. Every room was filled with patients in need of care. It can be overwhelming trying to get everyone taken care of and I find it fascinating watching the nurses figure out witch patients to prioritize.
