Unaeon is here to educate, help and support you so this week we will talk about the saviour complex 🤔So, what is the saviour complex? As a caregiver, you may feel the urge to save others, even when they do not want or need your help. This is common among health and social care professionals; however, it can be harmful to them and the people they care for. Caregiving is a challenging role that requires a lot of dedication and compassion. Whether they are a family member or professional, caregivers are responsible for ensuring the continuity of care for their loved ones, but you are not solely responsible for their happiness or well-being. To avoid falling deep into this complex, caregivers need to distinguish their responsibilities and set healthy boundaries. Are they responsible for or responsible to their loved ones? These two phrases have different meanings and implications. Being responsible for your loved one means having a duty or obligation to take care of them or help them with their condition, whereas being responsible means being accountable to them for one’s actions or decisions. Caregivers should aim to be more responsible for their loved ones, not for them. This means respecting and supporting their choices and encouraging growth. It also means taking care of oneself and seeking help when needed, as it is impossible to do it all alone. There is no shame in stepping aside at times and prioritising your own needs. By doing so, caregivers can foster a more balanced and fulfilling relationship with their loved ones and themselves. Let us know in the comments if you heard of it and if you ever had to deal with this type of situation 😁 and don't forget, we are here to support you! Understanding the factors behind the higher rate of suicide in individuals with bipolar disorder is crucial for promoting mental health and providing support. Dr. Caroline Fenkel, LCSW, Charlie Health’s Co-Founder and Chief Clinical Officer, sheds light on this important topic for Everyday Health. The elevated risk of suicidal thoughts in those with bipolar disorder is primarily associated with the depressive phase of the disorder, explains Fenkel. During depressive episodes, individuals may experience intense sadness, hopelessness, and a loss of interest in activities they once enjoyed. If you or a loved one are experiencing these symptoms, know Charlie Health is here to help. One of the challenges facing the use of digital mental health services is engagement and adherence. There are a growing number of choices as more startups enter the teletherapy space, so patients may not choose the best solution for their unique needs and preferences.#digitalhealth #mentalhealth #patientexperience

This analysis of the #mentalhealth challenges for #GenZ is one of the best I've read. The constant use of screens distorts people's view of reality, often creating isolation in the name of social connection. The lack of affordable mental #healthcare is long overdue for transformation. While tech is unlikely to solve everything, there is great potential in using it to expand 24/7 support and create communities that people can relate to. Great piece by Niko Bonatsos and calling for all #mentalhealth #startup founders!

Men’s Health Week 12th – 18th Men’s Health and the Internet. The theme for Mens Health Week 2023, focuses on our Health and the Internet. The development of the ‘minicomputers’ in the palm of our hand, can have a detrimental effect on our Health. As well as influencing your mental health, it also has a detrimental effect on your physical health. Have a read of my blog, Our Health and the Internet, which highlights Internet addiction and what you can do to help break the habit. https://lnkd.in/ehr3RmyPCan you function without checking or answering your phone immediately after seeing a notification?#MensHealthWeek #HealthandInternet #Hypnotherapy #BusinessRoom #YourBusinesssMatters #PositiveActions #MindReboot #addictions #mentalhealth

Our Community tends to be for two types of men:1 - Those who understand the value of connection, self-improvement and growth throughout the second half of life. This man typically is in decent health, has a certain amount of financial security and is smart and humble enough to want to be a part of something bigger than themselves.2 - Those men who are in hidden pain, have been in denial about their mental, physical, social and/or financial health for some time and who understand that it is the investment they make now that will pay off in their future.Which one are you? Here’s some cold, hard facts that men, and society, often choose to ignore:40% of men have never spoken to anyone about their mental health29% are ‘too embarrassed’ to speak about it20% believe that there is still a stigma attached to men opening up about how they feel40% of men said it would take suicidal thoughts for them to be compelled to speak to a professional about their mental health 77% of men have or continue to suffer with their mental healthAt NXT45 we believe that there is a better way.Changing the conversation around men’s health so that more men feel empowered and confident to share how they REALLY feel.Bringing men together through shared experiences where friendships can be grown and men can live happier, healthier and more fulfilled lives. When that happens…everyone wins!Head to our website to find out more and to register for updates on how and when you can become part of our NXT45 Community and movement for better men.#nxt45 #menshealth #community Mike Bates Jonny Grayshon Joe Gaunt
