From the creators of Rogue Legacy comes a "true-cooperative" action RPG. FULL METAL FURIES puts an emphasis on team play with a unique combat system where everyone is important. Work together to defeat special enemies, string organics combos to deal massive damage, and save a wartorn world that is battling itself to extinction. Play on the couch or online with friends, and make it a party for up to four players! Or go solo in single-player, and show off your skills through a Pick 2 quick-switch system that retains all the nuances of multi-play.

True coordination is needed to take down your foes. Enemies enter the battlefield with coloured barriers, and only allies of a similar colour can shatter them.
You must revive your fallen allies. Barriers won’t break themselves! Revive bars naturally raise over time, but a helping hand never hurts.
Cooperation, not competition. No more fighting for last hits, battling for gold, or trolling for health drops. Everything is shared, so you can focus on working together.

Four classes, four different styles of play.

Alex the Friendly Fighter – Engages up close with counters and combos.
Meg the Near-sighted Sniper – Plant mines, shoot from afar, and juggle your enemies.
Triss the Boxy Tank – Save allies with your shield, or send enemies flying.
Erin the Ovally Engineer – Control the battlefield with her turrets. She also has a gun!

Let's address an aspect of this game that a lot of people dance around when they see you playing it:"The Furies" were female cthonic deities of vengeance. This is not what the average person puts together when they misread the title; we live in sad times.Why did the developers fixate on obscure Greek Mythology? Functionally, the entire premise of the game is built around it. These devs did an incredible job of crafting this game so it could stand on its own. There are a few games I can think of *like* this game, or that share certain aspects, but none of them come close to this model, and damn is it fun.The tone flows from humorous slapstick and wit in the writing/dialogue, to curious exploration, to a sense of awe and mystery with the secrets the game has to uncover, and finally to the high excitement of pulling through a difficult fight alongside your friends.Each of the 4 characters has a distinct play-style. There's a bit of leeway as you unlock additional pieces of gear to master, and each piece individually can drastically alter your real-time approach to a combat situation. The game requires a high player skillset (or at the very least, competent friends). Adding character levels on top of this places the game in the "simple to learn, difficult to master" category.Sound design is on point. Every character has at least one move that has satisfying "punch" to it (typically launching enemies skyward). The music is excellent. Overall, the game feels extremely cohesive; every aspect of it compliments all other aspects.Disclaimer: You're gonna die, but it's part of the fun, and you get to keep every bit of weapon xp and gold that you earn/pick up.Death can only delay vengeance slightly, after all.

That game was a "massive failure" for Cellar Door Games (their words, not mine). We can guess that failure is why they choose to go on far more safer Rogue Legacy 2 for their next game. And though I love Rogue Legacy, it's a shame because Full Metal Furies is fantastic. An amazing coop game and far more than that. Like the trailer says: "not your typical brawler". If you have friends, give that game the love he deserves. If you don't have friends, make friends, and give them and that game the love they deserve.

Game is good sh*t. *nods*Would be great with just the beat 'em up combat, but the puzzle f**kery puts it over the top (even if I needed some hints to solve things in expeditious manner). So much thinking outside of the box. You really have to take a step back and broaden your thinking to figure out some of the puzzles.+Fun characters+Good humor,+Great sound track+Challenging but fair combat.+Best with friends+Single player mode using a swap system between two of the furies is tight.Onward to New Game+ for me.

Full Metal Furies delievered what was promised: A new kind of brawler. It's missing many of the minor annoyances of the genre. However, it is much more difficult then some i've played, though ultimately, I'd guess, more forgiving then Cellar Door's previous title, Rogue Legacy. The RPG-style upgrade system certainly helps, as does the fact that you keep all gold obtained in levels- even that obtained during boss fights, as they drop gold whenever they reach a health threshold. Good stuff. Still, towards the end it started feeling rather unfair. If my friend had not mastered Triss in just a few short sessions, I doubt I would have gotten far. As it is, I was most comfortable using Meg.The game's asethetic is absolutely spon on. It has great music, lovely background art and great character designs, and also surprisingly entertaining writing. Triss' being done with everything, Alex's unabashed enthusiasm, Erin's need to educate her less well-read companions, and Meg's state of only partial wakeness and interest. They're all endearing. In addition, there is a deeper subgame involving the finding of ancient tablets and the solving of riddles I was curious to see where this went, but it eventually proved beyond my puzzling abilities to solve, as several of them require out of the box thinking and bring you to conclusions I could not possibly have drawn on my own. Again, my friend had to step in.Still, unlike say, Shovel Knight's DLC campaigns, or Cave Story's true ending path, Furies did not leave a bad taste in my mouth the way a lot of frustrating games do. I owe this to its presentation- it feels like reaching the end of a journey. As a kid who grew up reading of the Greek myths and enjoying beat em ups, Furies has a comforting familiarity to it.There's a nifty ability to switch between two characters if you're playing solo, and mechanics that both make it easier to see whats happening and to encourage teamplay and coordination, like color-coded shields that only the corresponding character can break. It seems to have some issues with resolution- I've played with the graphics settings and its always a bit fuzzy. It also didn't seem to work with the Steam overlay at launch, though this appears to have been fixed. Also, aiming Meg's riflle with a 360 controller feels a tad awkward. But it's definitely playable. If you've been eagerly anticipating this title like me, and enjoy Beat-Em-Ups or Action-RPGs, go ahead and grab it now that its out.As an end note, this game has already been heavily patched and Cellar Door seems to have a great deal of concern for it and its players, which is more then you can say for a lot of games.

This is pretty much Castle Crashers with Rogue Legacy's RPG grind behind it.Would recommend if you are into both.
